Economic and Social Council

The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is one of the six primary organs of the United Nations. Since the establishment of the UN in 1945, ECOSOC has been the primary channel of discussion in regard to global economic, social, and health issues. Through resolutions passed by the 54 Member States, ECOSOC provides policy recommendations to ensure an increase in overall standard of living as well as promoting economic development. In the aftermath of the Global Financial Crisis, ECOSOC seeks to salvage the global economy by providing long-term solutions toward sustainable international economic and social development.
